Hello fellow Rotarians:

Here are two great fellowship events that I think we should support and need participants for:

1.    Dragon Boat Team

The Lethbridge Rotary Clubs Dragon Boat Festival

·         Henderson Lake, Lethbridge Alberta, CA    June 27-29, 2003

Since the Dragon Boat Festival is an event sponsored by the Rotary Clubs we need to ensure that we have at least one team in the race.  A team requires a minimum of 20 individuals, with practices taking place the week in advance of the event.  Our Rotary Club is subsidizing the boat ($800), so all we need is some of your time.

Please let me know if you are willing to take part in a team by emailing me or calling me at 381-2124 (h).   The team members do not have to be Rotarians, but can be partners, spouses, friends, relatives, whatever.   Let's not let the other teams show up Rotary!
 

2.    Cancer Society "Relay for Life"

    Taking place in Lethbridge on May 30 and 31 (Friday and Saturday).

    Civic Centre Track    (6 Avenue South)

The Canadian Cancer Society's Relay For Life is a unique community event.

·         A 12-hour relay event starting Friday night and ending Saturday morning.

·         Teams of 10 people walking, jogging or running around a track. Teams can be colleagues, family members or friends.

·         Cancer survivors are invited to walk the Survivors’ Victory Lap, the first lap of the Relay.

·         A special Luminary Ceremony is held after sunset to honour loved ones lost to cancer and celebrate survivors.

·         A tent village where teams can relax and socialize.

·         Activities, entertainment and food.

·         An emotional but fulfilling night giving all participants a sense of accomplishment in raising money for an important cause.

Rotarians have an opportunity to volunteer for the event or participate in the relay.

·         team and survivor recruitment

·         registration

·         food

·         entertainment

·         luminaries

·         set-up/tear-down

·         media/promotion
