Membership Recruitment and Retention
Wayne presented Frank with a trophy in commemoration of his wild ideas, which Frank accepted with tears of appreciation and the words: "I'm gonna' get you. . . ".
Noting the importance of recriting new members and the equally important job of retaining members, Wayne welcomed Bruce back after a long absence. Dennis Chinner, chair of memberhsip welcomed Bruce and presented him with a gift. The presentation was made to Bruce VanRaalte to celebrate his recent return to Rotary where he received a valuable collection of Saskatchewan Tupperware, which no doubt will reside in a place of honour in his home if he remembers to take it home next week..
Hanski Report
Hanna spoke in both official languages, Finnish and English.
Hanski enjoyed the Lethbridge parade, sewing, roller-blading, a trip to Head-Smashed-In with her host mother Debbie Anderson, Rodeo with the Killorans, attending the fair and jogging. She will soon be moving in with Elizabeth Van Mill, who is booking trips for Hanski with Rotarians now.
Dragon Boat Races
John Hoopfer tells us the Races were successful in all fields except in finance. Discussions and motions to loan money towards next year's event were recorded by Secretary Carol Sheahan. On the plus side, the races generated much enthusiasm, good will, and the resolve to hold the event again next year.
Surprise Sergeant At Arms
Kendall Gibson was surprised to find himself in the role, and did a great job of levying fines. Chris Murray was fined for inviting a guest then letting them pay for their own lunch. Bruce VanRaalte paid for missing so many meetings and sucking up to the new chief. John Hoopfer paid for doing a tough job on the Streets Alive appeal. Pat Killoran paid for being written up in the "LeftBridge Herald" and fined again because they spelled his name wrong. Doug McArthur paid to keep quiet about a birthday. Brent Gateman paid for getting free air time for Integra. Darrell Alexander paid to remind us that Black Tie Bingo is on September 28. Jeff Warren paid for advertising his 80 golf score but not mentioning the other nine holes.
Umbrella Bucks
Kendall is happy to tell us that a Global Telethon has been scheduled to sell season tickets for the Lethbridge Hurricanes who hope to bring the Memorial Cup and $5-$7 million dollars in associated revenue to Lethbridge.
Ellie Peters announced her September 8 Bridal Show, fashion show and gift show from which the proceeds go to Child Find.
Ed Fetting was fined $1 in absentia for skipping his SAA duty.

Mike and Miles enjoyed 40 degree weather, Antonio Gauvi artwork, huge churches, history, architecture, driving fast, wine and food, as well as the 19,000 Rotarians at the RI event. They showed us dozens of professional slides. Great impromptu performance thanks guys.
